Shots On Goals
Ready to quit your resolutions yet? Don't! Change your mindset with this simple tweak
It’s all about volume.
Incremental changes add up to make a big difference in your life.
Seldom in your life do you have a “make or break” moment. Most of life is made up of a billion tiny decisions that add up to a great sum of results – good, bad, or ugly.
Which means you have tons of shots on goal.
In the words of Mr. Hockey himself, Wayne Gretzky (by way of Michael Scott), “you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”
Or, if you live in the South, “you can’t catch a fish from your couch.” Meaning if you get out on the lake and don’t catch a fish, well, at least you gave yourself a chance. Because you had a 0% chance of catching fish staying home.
At least you tried.
And sometimes that’s all we have the ability to affect - the level of effort we give.
I’ve had fitness goals before that got derailed by injury. It’s discouraging, but you adjust, evaluate, realign the goals, and get back after it with the new target in your sights. It’s all you can do.
I’ve had financial goals that get derailed by market conditions. What is a guy like me supposed to do? I can feel sorry for myself (which changes nothing), or adjust and take action in a different way.
What are your shots on goal lately?

We get it. Investors are rattled, costs keep rising, and the world keeps getting weirder.
So, who’s better at handling their money than the uber-rich?
Have 3 long-term investing tips UBS (Swiss bank) shared for shaky times:
Hold extra cash for expenses and buying cheap if markets fall.
Diversify outside stocks (Gold, real estate, etc.).
Hold a slice of wealth in alternatives that tend not to move with equities.
The catch? Most alternatives aren’t open to everyday investors
That’s why Masterworks exists: 70,000+ members invest in shares of something that’s appreciated more overall than the S&P 500 over 30 years without moving in lockstep with it.*
Contemporary and post war art by legends like Banksy, Basquiat, and more.
Sounds crazy, but it’s real. One way to help reclaim control this week:
